I did not learn IELTS from a textbook alone. I lived it — through the immigration office, a graduate program in applied linguistics, a layoff, and the warehouse floor of one of the most demanding operations in the world.
In 2016 I immigrated to Canada, where language stopped being an academic subject and became a survival tool. In May 2020, I joined Amazon during the COVID-19 disruption and learned a lesson that reshaped how I teach: the strongest performers are not the people who know the most — they are the people who keep communicating clearly and executing when conditions change.
That insight informs my work at VLTSCO, where language education, structured assessment, educational publishing and responsible AI support clearer learning pathways. The seven-book cognitive IELTS system is one expression of that wider mission.
