IELTS · ACADEMIC WRITING TASK 2 · INSTRUCTOR-GRADED
Know which part of your Task 2 is holding you back, and fix that first.
Another practice essay rarely tells you what to change. This course grades your essay on the four IELTS writing criteria, turns the result into a personal practice plan, and shows you the change on a second essay.
How it works
One improvement loop, from diagnosis to progress
1. Write a timed diagnostic essay
One Academic Task 2 essay, 40 minutes, at least 250 words, on an original VLTSCO prompt.
2. Get instructor grading on four criteria
Your instructor grades Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource and Grammatical Range and Accuracy, each in half-band steps, with a comment you can act on.
3. Follow a plan built from your results
Your instructor confirms the one or two criteria to work on first. You get only the practice lessons that match: worked examples, exercises and a short writing task.
4. Write a comparable reassessment
A second essay of the same type on a different topic. Your first submitted essay in each stage is the one compared.
5. See your progress, criterion by criterion
A progress report shows what moved and what to practise next. It does not calculate an overall Writing band.
What you get
- A timed diagnostic essay with instructor grading on four criteria in half bands
- Eight practice lessons, two for each criterion, with original worked examples, exercises and answer keys
- A personal plan: only the lessons your results point to
- A comparable reassessment on a different topic
- A progress report by criterion, with a clear next step
What it is not
- Not an official IELTS score, and no result is guaranteed
- No overall Writing band is calculated
- Not General Training, and not Task 1
- Not automated scoring: your essays are graded by an instructor

Questions
Before you decide
Is this an official IELTS score?
No. Grades are an instructor-assessed practice result by VLTSCO, not an official IELTS score, and no examination result is guaranteed.
Who is it for?
Adults preparing IELTS Academic Writing Task 2 who want to know exactly which criterion is holding their writing back and practise that first. It does not cover General Training or Task 1.
Who grades my essay?
An instructor assigned to the course, never you. The course owner appoints instructors and an independent reviewer approves the course content.
What do I need to access the lessons?
A VLTSCO account, enrollment in the course and an active course entitlement. Everything else on this page is public.
Can I take the reassessment more than once?
You can practise again, but the progress report always compares your first submitted essay in each stage.
